Rebuilding Build In folder solves many issues such as:

  • Short keys not working,
  • Tools not working properly,
  • Unhandled exception at the startup,
  • Problem with Layers Manager Menus overlapping not displaying etc
  • Dimension settings for diametral dimensions are locked so that one cannot uncheck Force Text Inside Extension Lines. Text movement property is set to Move Text No leader and cannot be changed
  • Arrows created with the arrow tool can not be selected
  • The drawing cannot be zoomed in or out
  • Pipe tool keeps activating the 3D fillet tool. Pipe tool not working through icon or menu
  • Hitting Edit and undo, instead of getting undo of the last item drawn, it always shows “undo clear”. It undoes the last operation but it only ever said "undo clear"
  • And many other similar issues that were working perfectly fine when you first used the tool, but now seem not to be responding.

If you are facing any such issues with the TurboCAD program, then the very first thing you should do is to rebuild built in folder. Before doing this close make sure TurboCAD is closed.

Here are the instructions to reset your default settings by rebuilding built in folder:

  1. On Windows 7 go to Start Menu-->All Programs-->Accessories-->Run and type in %appdata% then click ok.
  2. On Win 8 or 10 right click on the Windows icon in the lower left-hand corner of the desktop, choose run and then type in %appdata% then click ok.
  3. This will open up the AppData\Roaming folder. Navigate to this folder C:\Users\Your PC User Name\AppData\Roaming\IMSIDesign\TurboCAD <version?>\<program name?> x64\Profiles
  4. There you will see a folder called “Built-In”. Right click on this folder and choose rename. Call it anything other than built in. Once it’s renamed reopen TurboCAD.
  5. This will reset the defaults of the program including any customized toolbars and menus. If you have customized your interface at all and failed to save the configuration you will need to redo your personal setup. If you mainly just stick to the default controls you’ll be good to go.
